In China, the main additional costs are the vehicle purchase tax (10%), annual vehicle and vessel tax, compulsory traffic insurance, commercial insurance, and plate fees. New energy vehicles are exempt from purchase tax.
Example: MSRP ¥150,000 → Taxable Price ≈ ¥132,743 → Purchase Tax ≈ ¥13,274.
In the United States, the out‑the‑door price includes state sales tax, registration fees, title fees, and dealer documentation fees. Sales tax rates vary from 0% to over 10% depending on the state.
| Item | China (Example ¥150K) | US (Example $30K) |

| Main Tax | Purchase Tax ~¥13,274 | Sales Tax ~$1,800 (6%) |

It is 10% of the taxable price (usually the invoice price excluding VAT). If the invoice includes VAT, divide by 1.13 first then multiply by 10%.
Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon do not impose state sales tax, though local taxes may still apply.
As of recent policy, new energy vehicles (pure electric, plug‑in hybrid) are exempt from purchase tax. Check the latest government announcements.
